OfficeMax Announces New Search Engine on OfficeMax.com

(Benzinga Lightning Feed Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) OfficeMax® Incorporated (NYSE: OMX), a leader in office supplies, technology and services and one of the nation's top 15 largest retailers online1, today announced a new search engine on OfficeMax.com that is helping customers shop faster, with more accurate search and recommendation results for a more convenient online shopping experience. In the first month as the search engine was phased in, OfficeMax.com has already experienced an increase in conversion rate and customer satisfaction around site navigation, and more than a 60 percent increase in average revenue per visit.

"Search is the backbone of any successful internet retailer, and is the key to delivering the speed, accuracy and convenience that customers desire in their online shopping experience," said Jim Barr, OfficeMax executive vice president and chief digital officer. "These improvements to our search capabilities make our customers' online shopping experience more intuitive and easier than ever before. As importantly, our investment to upgrade search demonstrates that OfficeMax is committed to growing our e-commerce operations and improving our online customer experience long term." New site features include type-ahead text, which better and more accurately anticipates customer queries and showcases recommendations on products, brands and other search terms. Shoppers can also refine searches based on parameters such as brand, price, color and relevant product attributes, and then sort how they view the search results.

The search engine upgrade has led to additional improvements in the OfficeMax.com customer shopping experience. Customers are viewing more products on OfficeMax.com with fewer searches, validating that consumers are finding the products they want with less effort.

The new search engine is one of many ongoing improvements to OfficeMax's e-commerce platforms to improve the customer shopping experience.
