BRS Media Voices Concern Over EBU's Use of ICANN Trademark

San Francisco, CA, Oct 10, 2012 (PRWeb.com via COMTEX) -- BRS Media, a diverse and growing media e-commerce firm that helps traditional and interactive media companies build and brand on the power of the Internet, sent a letter to ICANN's new CEO Mr. Fadi Chehadé voicing concern over the European Broadcast Union (EBU) usage of ICANN trademark. The EBU and its sister union International Amateur Radio Union (IARU), in association with The American Radio Relay League (ARRL), are using ICANN's trademark logo on its website and blog, with regards to endorsements and information regarding EBU's application for .RADIO.

The use of this trademark logo in endorsement blogs and EBU's website may confuse the Radio Industry into inferring ICANN's mark of approval for the EBU's .RADIO Application. The New Top-Level Domain program has taken years to develop rights protection mechanisms to protect IP (Intellectual Property) of organizations worldwide. A copy of the letter is available at: http://www.brsmedia.fm/ICANN_CEO_EBU.pdf (.pdf) "This obviously should be of deep concern to all involved in the New gTLD process, having a New gTLD Applicant using another's trademark is a serious issue." remarked George T. Bundy, Chairman & CEO of BRS Media Inc. "Intellectual property and rights protection mechanisms are among the most talked about topics in this New gTLD process." Bundy continues, "In news reports, the EBU claims to want the ICANN Applicant process 'run its course', but their actions speak much louder. At this point, we must renew our request to GAC Chair Heather Dryden to immediately remove this organization from the Governmental Advisory Committee as a GAC Observer. In addition, the European Broadcasting Union must recuse itself from the New TLD process by withdrawing its applications immediately in order to avoid the wild perception of any impropriety due to these activities." About BRS Media Inc: Based in the South of Market district (SoMa) of San Francisco CA, BRS Media (brsmedia.fm) is listed as one of the fastest growing privately held companies by the SF Business Times and Inc.
