Welch Healthcare and Retirement Group Implements Connected Living to Enhance Programming at its Retirement Communities

QUINCY, Mass. --(Business Wire)--

Connected Living, the only global technology and lifelong learning solution to revolutionize an aging population's ability to connect and create change, today announced that senior living provider, Welch Healthcare & Retirement Group, has implemented the Connected Living solution at Welch retirement communities in Massachusetts. The award-winning Connected Living program helps residents at Welch communities get online and connect with others using a secure, easy-to-use, cloud-based social network. The program provides customized training for seniors on how to use computer technology and ongoing support that helps them to stay connected for the long-term.

"The addition of Connected Living provides residents with access to a whole host of new ways to engage with family and friends," said Paul Casale, Jr., executive director, Allerton House at Central Park in Weymouth, MA, one of five Welch Group assisted living communities. "We know from research that staying active, engaged and socially connected are essential to good health and happiness."

The Connected Living Network (CLN) provides secure access to the Internet, email, photos, a library, games, and social media tools such as video chat. This technology, coupled with the Connected Living University (CLU), provides lifelong learning programs, classes, and activities to enable residents to not only connect but also to contribute. In addition, Connected Living Consulting (CLC) provides the on-site support to ensure adoption and sustained usage. Using the Connected Living solution, Welch Group community residents gain new computer skills, enjoy more frequent communication with family and friends, and benefit from the health advantages that come from increased social activity.

"Our mission is to provide the tools and resources to guide seniors along the path to independence," said Sarah Hoit, CEO and co-founder of Connected Living. "We provide the most effective way to engage these individuals by sparking their interest in learning and helping them build their technology skills to engage in discussion groups and connect to friends, family and caregivers. Connected Living gives seniors the tools and knowledge they need to live their lives and thrive in today's world."

Connected Living has been deployed at the following five Welch communities in the Boston, MA South Shore area: Village at Proprietor's Green in Marshfield, The Village at Duxbury in Duxbury, Allerton House - Central Park in Weymouth, Allerton House - Hancock Park in Quincy, and Allerton House - Harbor Park in Hingham. In each community, Connected Living provides resident program coordinators and other volunteers to train residents in using the program and incorporating the use of technology into as many resident activities as possible.
