GENBAND Joins HP OpenNFV Program as Technology Partner

FRISCO, Texas --(Business Wire)--

GENBAND™, a leading developer of software-based real time communications solutions, today announced that it has joined the HP OpenNFV Partner Program as a Technology Partner. The HP OpenNFV Program is designed to help the telecommunications industry accelerate innovation and launch services faster, more efficiently and cost-effectively through virtualization of telecommunications core networks and network functions.

The HP OpenNFV Program provides an open standards-based network functions virtualization (NFV) reference architecture along with HP industry-standard products and capabilities, offering service providers ready-to-deploy solutions that can enable the transformation from legacy networks to NFV and Software Defined Network (SDN)-enabled infrastructure.

Key Takeaways

  • Technology Partners consist of a select number of technology companies and vendors that collaborate on innovation, integration and support for the HP OpenNFV infrastructure stack based on recommendations from the European Telecommunications Standards Institute's (ETSI) NFV Industry Specification Groups (ISG).
  • GENBAND's (News - Alert) NFV solutions span its comprehensive product and solutions portfolio for real-time communications comprised of multiple, high-performance Virtual Network Functions (VNFs) including Session Border Controllers, Intelligent Messaging, WebRTC Gateway, Session Control and Applications Server solutions, and an intelligent VNF Management framework providing seamless interworking into broader NFV infrastructures and partner ecosystems.
  • GENBAND's NFV solutions, which fully support the key elasticity, scalability and orchestration tenets for cloud and virtualized environments as specified by ETSI (News - Alert), will provide support for technology included in the HP OpenNFV architecture.
  • GENBAND's solutions will be part of the technology providing innovation, testing and proofs-of-concepts (POCs) at HP OpenNFV Labs located in Fort Collins, CO; Houston, TX; Grenoble, France; Tel Aviv, Israel; and Seoul, South Korea.

Through the OpenNFV Program and OpenNFV Labs, HP provides a robust ecosystem of NFV technology applications and services partners with a broad choice of application-specific environments, as well as a catalog of POCs, to quickly develop applications for cloud-enabled NFV deployments. HP OpenNFV Labs, funded jointly by partners and HP, serve as incubators for partners and carriers to collaborate on validation testing of NFV POCs prior to deployment in carrier networks.

"We are delighted to join the HP OpenNFV Program as a Technology Partner," said BG Kumar, Chief Product Officer at GENBAND. "We look forward to collaborating closely with HP and other ecosystem members to leverage GENBAND's VNFs and HP's extensive NFV capabilities to quickly introduce differentiated and high-performance solutions that will offer our customers the ability to rapidly test and introduce compelling new real time communications services."

"The HP OpenNFV program is built on providing open, proven and innovative NFV solutions to our service provider customers," said Werner Schaefer, Vice President, Network Functions Virtualization, HP. "We welcome GENBAND as a Technology Partner and look forward to them being a key member of our ecosystem and helping us to provide communications service providers with world-class virtualized solutions."
