Procera Networks' NAVL Engine Powers Connectem vEPC for Telekom Austria GroupFREMONT, Calif., Feb. 20, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Procera Networks, Inc. (NASDAQ: PKT), the global Subscriber Experience company, in conjunction with Connectem and Telekom Austria Group's Serbian subsidiary Vip mobile, today announced a demonstration of the first fully virtualized LTE stack in a live network delivering data, voice and IMS services. Procera's Network Application Visibility Library (NAVL) software engine provides the application identification, traffic visibility, intelligence and control for Connectem's virtual Evolved Packet Core (vEPC) solution. Telekom Austria Group is now the first operator worldwide to implement virtualization of the entire core network production chain for mobile broadband services in a live environment. Instead of mobile traffic running on dedicated proprietary hardware and software, the data will now terminate in a general purpose IT data center running Intel x86 hardware and virtualization services. Additional solutions providers participating in the demonstration include Intel, VMware, Red Hat, Metaswitch, and Open Cloud. "As mobile network operators begin to embrace vEPC, service delivery quality must stay at the forefront of managing the subscriber experience," said Mike Kay, vice president of business development at Procera. "Guaranteeing a positive quality of experience for mobile subscribers requires real-time granular intelligence and powerful yet lightweight performance that only Procera's NAVL engine can provide." Procera's NAVL is a next-generation Deep Packet Inspection (DPI) software engine that provides real-time, Layer-7 classification of network traffic, enabling integrators to remain focused on their core competencies while implementing industry-leading DPI functionality from Procera in their products. Within the Connectem Virtual Core for Mobile (VCM) Platform solution, NAVL enables vital traffic treatment functions without the performance degradation typically generated by traditional DPI solutions, supporting line rate speed of traffic throughput without any performance hit. Quality and speed are essential requirements of LTE and of voice over LTE (VoLTE) in particular, as voice traffic is particularly sensitive to latency that could lead to a poor quality of experience. Procera will be exhibiting at Mobile World Congress 2015 at Hll 5, Stand 5H61, where they will be releasing their new book "Mobile Subscriber Experience for Dummies" as well as showcasing the NFV PacketLogic/V platform, Customer Care and Engineering Analytics Insights solutions, real-time location awareness solution RAN Perspectives, and the video analytics solution Video Perspectives.
