AirHop Communications Launches the eSONify™ Partner Program to Help Operators Accelerate SON Deployment for HetNets

MOBILE WORLD CONGRESS - AirHop (News - Alert) Communications, Inc., a leading provider of self-organizing network (SON) solutions for heterogeneous networks (HetNets), announced the launch of the eSONify™ Partner Program, a mechanism for wireless carriers and technology companies to integrate, certify and interoperate with eSON™ features including both traditional non-real-time SON and real-time SON for radio resource management and network optimization.

The program provides partners with a systematic and cost-effective process to use and test eSON features as well as a menu of resources enabling them to access a complete eSON-ready lab network. eSONify serves the needs of AirHop's broad customer and industry partner base including wireless operators, LTE system integrators and equipment vendors, LTE component vendors such as base station (eNB) chip and protocol software suppliers, research organizations and government agencies.

Existing program partners include Airspan, Arcadyan, Aritel, Broadcom (News - Alert), Cavium, Hitachi, The MITRE Corporation and Radisys.

eSONify enables operators to deploy advanced SON capabilities faster by establishing a systematic process to leverage the unique capabilities of AirHop's eSON solution. In particular, operators are able to evaluate key capabilities and performance of eSON such as real-time interference management and mobility load balancing, evaluate network equipment from eSON-certified vendors and perform interoperability testing in a multi-vendor environment.

System integrators, such as eNB equipment vendors, can quickly and seamlessly integrate with eSON cliet libraries, validate the eSON readiness of their products, and perform interoperability testing. In addition, researchers can leverage the program to develop new applications for SON features.

"Airspan (News - Alert), a leading provider of LTE small cells and small cell backhaul, is deploying eSON-ready products to support operator requirements for standard SON as well as advanced SON with real-time features such as coordinated interference management," said Moti Bitter, VP Products, Airspan Networks (News - Alert). "With a well-defined integration process and support from AirHop, we are able to fast-track our small cell deployment. The eSON cloud server also gives us the flexibility to leverage resources across our worldwide sites for this development."

"Integrating our CellEngine™ LTE small cell protocol software with the eSON API was fast and seamless," said Tom McQuade, General Manager, Software & Solutions, Radisys. "Having an eSON-ready solution positions Radisys and its customers to shorten the time and reduce the cost for operators to deploy real-time SON-enabled eNBs."

"eSONify helps our partners accelerate the deployment of eSON-enabled solutions to meet operator requirements," said Hanson On, Engineering Vice President and Co-Founder of AirHop. "It lowers the barriers to use eSON in a real network environment, which is important for operators to ensure the availability of eSON-enabled solutions from multiple vendors."

About AirHop's eSON™

AirHop's advanced intelligence SON solutions dynamically manage interference and optimize system capacity in multi-cell and multi-tier network configurations. AirHop's eSON combines multi-tier coordinated real-time SON optimization of available radio resources with traditional SON automation to provide operators a complete HetNet solution. In addition, eSON offers a carrier-grade UIX, an intelligent broad aperture analytics platform and support for both centralized and fully distributed deployment architectures. eSON empowers operators to maximize the value of their deployed assets, and reduce network-operating costs through effective optimization of coverage, capacity, and quality of service (QoS) for users.
