Service Provider Voice Moves to the Cloud

Alianza Inc., the cloud voice platform company, announced today that 2015 was a record year in all dimensions of its business. As residential and business VoIP continues the shift to cloud delivery models, that transition is also happening to service provider VoIP infrastructure. As part of the movement to web-scale, virtualized solutions, cloud voice platforms are increasingly adopted by all types of service providers to power new services and replace aging, obsolete networks.

The company's notable milestones and achievements in 2015 include:

  • Subscribers on the platform grew by 102% compared to 2014 and monthly recurring revenue also doubled in the year.
  • Twelve new service provider customers, including nine cable broadband companies, adopted Alianza's (News - Alert) cloud solution.
  • The company established two new channel partners: a leading wholesale telecommunications provider in the U.S. Northwest and managed services provider ZCorum.
  • In one project, the company rapidly migrated over 60,000 subscribers across multiple cable MSOs from an end-of-life legacy wholesale hosted VoIP solution.
  • Alianza saw employee growth of 25%, adding new staff across its development, support and sales organizations.
  • The company rounded out its management team in the fourth quarter with the addition of Camille Issa and Geoff Brooks, both telecommunications and cable industry veterans with experience delivering innovative solutions to service providers.

Alianza also extended its product leadership and industry recognition in the year:

  • Released 25 upgrades to the Cloud Voice Platform, including a new elastic NFV technology core with an active-active architcture, improved workflow and elegant web-based user interface, REST APIs for back-office integration, and many new business VoIP features.
  • Alianza won or was named a finalist for four industry awards for its hosted NFV VoIP solution: Broadband Technology Report's Diamond Technology Reviews, INTERNET TELEPHONY NFV Pioneer, Light Reading's (News - Alert) Leading Lights, and Telecom Council of Silicon Valley's Most Disruptive Technology SPIFFY.

"After years of deploying VoIP leveraging traditional network models, IP transformation has conceptually shifted to the cloud," stated Jim Hodges, Senior Analyst with Heavy Reading. "By adopting a cloud model, network operators can not only reduce operating costs and enhance service innovation, but also choose to implement a new VoIP business model that delivers immediate benefit by working with cloud provider partners such as Alianza."

"Our growth reflects the overall movement of software and solutions to the cloud," commented Brian Beutler (News - Alert), co-founder and CEO of Alianza. "Increasingly, service providers share our vision that they need more than the next-generation VoIP network; they need simplicity and a better business model, and they need it now. We are working tirelessly to help service providers realize that vision."
