Microsoft, Nexmo, Temasys, Agora.io, SmartBear, and Others To Lead Free Instructional "All About the API" Workshops

Developers will have their minds filled and creativity enhanced when they attend "All About The API" in Las Vegas, Nevada from July 19th-21st at Caesars Palace. There, conference attendees will be able to take part in at least six workshop sessions during the three-day API ecosystem-centric event.

During each free two-hour workshop session, speakers and developer leaders from the presenting companies will take the attendees through the how to's, present what's next and gain insider level insights into the way forward as Nexmo, Microsoft (News - Alert), Temasys, Agora.io, SmartBear, and Ytel all present where things are going with APIs.

Highlight of the six workshop sessions include:

Microsoft has codified the practices it uses to design web APIs across its diverse set of cloud services. Now Microsoft is opening that up so the community can benefit from what they learned along the journey. Attendees will have the chance to give feedback on what else they'd like to see from Microsoft APIs.

Microsoft Graph - APIs for Microsoft cloud services made simple
Microsoft Graph is the easiest way to connect applications to Microsoft cloud services such as Outlook, OneDrive, OneNote, Planner, Azure Active Directory and more, all from a single API. In this workshop attendees will learn how to supercharge apps with a web of interconnected customer data and smart insights like which documents are trending in an organization.

Sneak peek at upcoming API design tools from Microsoft
Microsoft is working on tools to help make the process of API design simpler and more productive. Attendees will get a sneak peek as Microsoft shares their early work on these with the community. Attendees will have the chance to give feedback on what's good and what's missing.

From in-app communication, to notifications-turned-apps, to chat apps-turned-platforms, the UX of brands is evolving. Traditional communications methods have not scaled, and for many leading innovators like Uber and Airbnb, they have implemented peer-to-peer, in-app communication capabilities to keep up with customers' demands for more personalized experience. However, brands have also struggled to maintain the context of multiple conversations, regardless of the channel. In this workshop, attendees will learn how you can achieve contextual communication in a multi-channel environment to reduce friction and greatly improve customer satisfaction.

Using open source and commercial tooling can not only build APIs faster, but they are more modular and easier to consume. In this workshop, we will use tooling in the Swagger ecosystem to build "sustainable APIs" in a number of programming languages, and connect them to other cloud services or further development in the API lifecycle.

The future of communications is for every application to embed the real-time video, voice and other communications needed directly into its rich user and application context. Every consumer social messaging app, from Facebook (News - Alert) Messenger to WeChat, already includes easy "click-to-communicate". How are you going to add real-time communications to your consumer and business apps?

In this workshop, attendees will discuss the range of real-time API options and economic models available to developers, including WebRTC, mobile SDKs and cloud communications platforms (CPaaS). They will also explore different boundaries of what is automated "behind the API" and what real-time expertise and infrastructure is required by developers.

At the workshop Agora.io will build a real-time video app live on stage that attendees will able to build themselves during the session or just follow-along and download it after the event.

In this workshop Temasys executives will present the choices available when making, buying, building, or renting decisions for platforms that support real time communications in applications and services, along with the benefits and risks associated with selecting a platform partner, and how to avoid typical implementation challenges that we see every day. Temasys will highlight specific use cases that illustrate a wide variety of different ways to easily and elegantly bring real-time communications into applications as features that increase customer engagement, or as core functionality for new disruptive businesses.

As the world around us changes, we must adapt. The revolution of the Cloud has already changed the way companies do business, but it also applies to the most basic of human interactions for businesses: communication.

The way we communicate is enhanced and modified consistently through the technology, tools and resources made available to us. To satisfy the demands of consumers and new trends, businesses have to not only find their audience, but also communicate with them wherever they actively listen, and without overwhelming (annoying) users and having them opt-out. Those using a multi-channel approach supported by cloud communications will be the front-runner of this exciting revolution.

"Workshops are where what's coming next gets revealed to those who can best implement APIs," said Rich Tehrani, the conference's executive producer. "From our past User Group Days, our attendees always found the workshops to be the most intimate and engaging venue. It's in these workshops that insight, understanding, and perspective are revealed most, laying the foundation for where companies are going. We expect these workshops to offer that level of education and insight based upon each company's stake in the API economy."
