Redline Announces Ruggedized LTE Networking System

Compact, complete LTE system is designed for private mobile networks

TORONTO, Aug. 15, 2016 /CNW/ - Redline Communications (www.rdlcom.com) Group Inc. (TSX: RDL), a leading provider of mission-critical wireless network solutions, announced today that its new standards-based wide-area wireless network solution, the RDL-LTE is now available.

The RDL-LTE system is a complete end-to-end LTE-based mobile wireless network intended for use by organizations who require a secure, private LTE-based network to support voice, data, video and Internet-of Things (IoT) communications.

This newest member of Redline's wireless family combines Redline's RDL-3100/5000 backhaul products with a ruggedized eNodeB (built to meet HAZLOC or hazardous location specifications), and a simplified eUTRAN Core (EPC) to allow 3GPP compatible user equipment and Push-to-Talk (PTT) access to the Redline private mobile network across large geographies.

"The RDL-LTE wireless network combines the low-power consumption and extended range functionality of Redline's backhaul products with the convenience of standards-based LTE-supported user devices into an affordable private network solution that can start small and scale as our customers' needs grow," said Rodney Cronin, Redline's vice president of product management. "This makes the RDL-LTE system very well suited for wide-area, low-density networks, like those used for public safety, rural communities, military operations and oil fields."

The RDL-LTE network gives organizations an alternative to public LTE network services provided by telecom providers, as it combines the benfits of a standards-based system with the ability to control the quality of service across the network. This ensures that the network owner has the kind of access they need, when they need it, and without usage fees.

The RDL-LTE has undergone numerous field trials and has most recently been deployed in a three cell pilot network in the USA. Kentucky-based Redline partner Comtronics Inc. has been directly involved in this pilot network rollout, and president and CEO David Fried stated "We are in the initial phase of testing Redline's LTE Band 14 solution in a three cell site configuration.  We've experienced clear and crisp PTT conversations, demonstrated end user device tracking and positioning, as well as, a first responder computer aided dispatch application.  All are performing flawlessly with handoff over difficult terrain."

The RDL-LTE will be generally available in the fourth quarter of 2016 in the 700 MHz LTE bands: B12/13/14/17/28, and shortly thereafter in the 800 MHz and 2.5 GHz FDD bands.

Redline executives will be hosting a webinar about this new product on Tuesday August 23rd 2016 at 10:00AM eastern. Registration is open now. For more information on the RDL-LTE product line, visit Redline's website.
