How to Best Use WebRTC and PeerConnection API

The excellent new complement to the latest HTML spec, WebRTC, is grabbing all kinds of attention as more and more users recognize its utility. With this new technology, developers are better able to design and implement apps which are able to process video and audio from different users with very little strain to its capacity.

Now, developers can simplify the process through which they engage with audio and video data. They will no longer have to juggle video drivers, deal with lagging Internet speed, tackle encrypted data, or slog through any other bits of tedium that are generally associated with developing apps.

Now, instead of handling all the accessories and burdens listed above, a developer just needs the JavaScript APIs in question in order to proceed. Because of this, it’s easier to determine how an app will function on a wide variety of different circumstances and platforms without running a slew of actual tests. Other players are already coming up with more alternatives to this method, including Microsoft and many other independent developers.

The process of creating a P2P audio/video app with the new WebRTC consists of two steps. First, you need to ask the other party for permission in order to get the audio-video feed to transfer. Once you have this permission, you can then begin to stream the feed, or else process it. There are many ways and routes through which these two steps can occur, depending on your own personal taste in software.

As with any sort of browser-to-browser exchange, it is of utmost importance that you have the trust of the other party and that they feel comfortable exchanging data with you. Once you have established that the person with whom you are communication is trust-worthy, the process of swapping audio and video has never been easier than with this new program.
