WebRTC Certification Will Allow Companies to Take Advantage of New Standard's Potential

The tech world is abuzz with the potential WebRTC will offer Web services. WebRTC, a standard that is part of a free, open project designed to allow high-quality, real-time communication applications to be developed in the browser via simple Java APIs and HTML5, will have numerous important applications.

For starters, WebRTC will allow Internet users to easily engage in video or audio communications with people all over the world as easily as clicking on a link with no need to download plug-ins. It may have far-reaching implications for call centers and customer support organizations. And it’s not as far away as you might think.

By the end of this year, millions of people will be able to use the WebRTC standard to click on a link in their browser and connect to a business or a friend using either voice or video. No subscription, no special client – just a Web browser. WebRTC will allow browsing e-commerce customers to be serviced in a truly multimedia way without the need to log off a company’s Web site and pick up the phone, simply to have questions answered by an agent. It could also allow for easy face-to-face video communications between consumers and agents and help desk personnel, allowing contact centers to offer a truly personalized customer experience.

Success in WebRTC, however, will depend on how fast network operators move to embrace this new standard and offer services that bridge the telecom and Web worlds. Many companies are unprepared for the opportunities – and challenges – that WebRTC will bring. Too few companies are ready to begin building WebRTC into their applications, but once consumers get a taste of it, chances are good they will begin demanding these capabilities.

There are more than 20 million JavaScript programmers around the world who will soon be faced with the need to build WebRTC into their Web applications and services. The WebRTC School is one organization that offers these programmers educational opportunities in certified WebRTC training.

On August 26, ITEXPO and WebRTC School will team up and host a WebRTC pre-conference training and certification dedicated to WebRTC. The training program will be held at ITEXPO Conference at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas, Nev. The event will feature noted WebRTC authors and industry leaders who will conduct a full day of education and training in WebRTC. All registrants will get access to the WebRTC School online training and certification for Web Developers.
