Bistri Chooses 3scale to Manage WebRTC API

Bistri, a provider of video conferencing over WebRTC, has chosen 3scale, a cloud API management provider, to open up Bistri’s API to developers.

“Flexible and totally customizable, the possibilities of integration offered by 3scale are much higher than the other solutions on the market. Thanks to 3scale, Bistri has been able to release the first version of its API in a few weeks, offering Video Calling, Video Conferencing, Screen Sharing and Data Channels," Bistri CEO Arnaud Budkiewiczsaid said.

Bistri aims to make videoconferencing easy by giving users a URL that they can give out to other people and be connected immediately, similar to an online phone number.

“World-class data providers like Bistri choose 3scale to open, launch and manage their API because we offer years of experience in productizing our customers' API capabilities," Guillaume Balas, 3scale CMO, said. "With our years of API management experience 3scale brings the expertise and solutions to help API providers develop new business models and monetize distribution models."

Bistri offers a variety of video conferencing abilities through the browser, including video conferencing, video calling and screen sharing.

The latest version of Mozilla’s Firefox browser, version 22, has full support for WebRTC.

3Scale’s API management platform includes access control, security, service contracts, rate limiting, analytics and reporting, documentation and a developer portal. It also includes billing and payment.

3scale already powers over 225 APIs, with over 100,000 developers writing new applications using these APIs.

Bistro is not the only conferencing application that 3scale is involved with. The company also manages the API for Truecaller, a collaborative phone book application that attempts to sniff out “phone spammers” as well as valuable numbers.

“World-class data providers like Truecaller choose 3scale to open, launch and manage their API because we offer years of experience in productizing our customers' API capabilities," Balas said.
