Understanding the WebRTC Ecosystem to Make Educated Decisions

There’s been a lot of discussion and speculation about the kind of impact WebRTC will have on different audiences and industries. Many of those conversations have been about consumer-facing applications and contact center services, but many of them have also been about WebRTC in the enterprise. There are a handful of companies entering the WebRTC game every day as they realize the benefits and potential of this real-time communications technology as a business asset.

Tsahi Levint-Levi, a thought leader in the WebRTC and telecommunications space, recently completed and launched a research paper to help people understand WebRTC. Titled, “WebRTC for Business People,” the paper covers everything you need to know about WebRTC – what it is, what it can do, what it can’t do, what browsers and environments WebRTC can be used in, what types of vendors are adopting WebRTC and how, and what kinds of business models WebRTC is being used in – to make educated decisions about launching new initiatives.

“I’ve been looking at the WebRTC ecosystem for almost two years now. A long time,” he wrote in a blog post. “A lot has changed. From a handful of companies, I am now tracking over 250 vendors and services out there – with more being added daily.”

The paper explores some of the biggest topics in WebRTC today – browser support, networking, API components, requested features, the hype, the ecosystem and use cases by different verticals, including telehealth, gaming, social networking, telecommunications, customer service and expert markets.

“When I wrote it, I didn’t have in my mind my old VoIP world, but rather the web world – the place where innovation and creativity flourishes these days,” he said. This is a key part of WebRTC – its impact just isn’t in VoIP or telecommunications, but it indicates a shift in the Web as we know it. Real-time communications will soon be the norm, especially as demands grow from both consumers and enterprises for 24/7, always-on access to content and communication.

Levint-Levi will be covering these topics in more detail at the upcoming WebRTC Conference & Expo, happening Nov. 19-21 in Santa Clara, Calif. He will be moderating and speaking in multiple sessions, including “Business Intro to WebRTC,” “Gaming & Beyond,” “Using the Data Channel for More than File Sharing,” “WebRTC Deployment Options” and “WebRTC Impact on Your Network.”

You can download and learn more about the paper here. If you purchase the paper in the first month – until Dec. 13 – you get a $100 early bird discount. Levint-Levi has some other discounts and offers for the paper, so be sure to check them out on BlogGeek.Me.
