Quobis Sets Out to Make Starting WebRTC Easier with SIPPO

Getting started with Web-based real-time communications (WebRTC) is the kind of thing that a lot of businesses would like to do, but aren't quite so sure how to go about it. With an increasing number of applications providing various services to the wider market, selecting which services to go with—and putting those services into play within the organization—can be a real challenge. But when it comes to getting solutions in play, Quobis wants to make things a little easier with its newly unveiled SIPPO WebRTC Application Controller (WAC).

The SIPPO WAC allows organizations to take current WebRTC applications and more effectively manage these applications by allowing integration on several fronts, including with existing business support systems (BSS) and operations support systems (OSS), in several kinds of existing architectures, including IMS and NGN architectures. SIPPO WAC will not only work with 3GPP, but will also work with ORCA.js APIs, allowing both organizations and application developers to get in on the action as well.

SIPPO WAC allows for several important new features to be brought into play, like improvements to security mechanisms, identity control, statistics functions, contact and address book management, and several others, including integration with current elements of the business or with service provider network services for added value. Quobis doesn't just stop at SIPPO WAC, however, also offering up other applications like SIPPO Click2Call or SIPPO WebRTC Collaborator.

Quobis' CMO, Iago Sato, offered up some comments on Quobis' line of products, saying, “It’s all about managing the complexity of integrating web applications into the telco world. SIPPO is being trialed by service providers and enterprises around the world and there are some early deployments going on as well along with leading infrastructure vendors.”

When it comes to WebRTC, there are an increasing number of choices available to work with. It can be a tough call figuring out which to go with, and then how to get these effectively into the current larger system. But things like SIPPO WAC look to make it simpler not only for organizations but also for developers, and services that make things simpler to work with are often highly prized in the field and prove to be well worth costs for offering up valuable solutions to problems. It also helps that when something's simpler to work with, it takes up less time to work with it, and that means savings on employee costs as well, allowing IT staffers to get freed up to work on other important tasks and potentially reducing the number of new hires to bring in. When the machines can do the work, many surmise, the machines probably should.

SIPPO WAC may not be the solution for every company, but for companies looking to get more deeply involved with WebRTC and not sure how to go about it, it could be the perfect solution waiting.
