Easynet Global Services Partners with Acano, Adds WebRTC to UC Project

Unified communications projects are a major part of the work environment in many places these days, as companies discover the benefits that come with switching over communications systems from landline phones to larger-scale systems that offer more features. So in turn, those companies that provide UC projects are finding many new opportunities. One of these opportunities has recently made itself known in a new partnership between Easynet Global Services and Acano, who are working toward a new kind of UC project with plenty of new features, including Web-based real time communications (WebRTC) integration.

The Easynet and Acano partnership combines the secure managed services platform offered by Easynet with Acano's coSpaces system. That combination brings into play a new kind of collaboration experience that works across several different devices, making it an excellent choice for businesses with a diffuse platform setup, as is commonly the case in a bring your own device (BYOD) environment.

But the Easynet / Acano partnership goes beyond that, bringing WebRTC integration into the platform so as to allow not only users of different devices to get in on the collaboration action, but also allowing Microsoft Lync users to connect to non-Lync users. This sheer range of possibilities in terms of connection point means that those who bring in the Easynet / Acano product can create essentially a major nexus point for connectivity, allowing businesses to set up such an operation with whatever devices are on hand. This minimizes initial investment and allows companies to set up connectivity between employees with much less fuss, allowing those valuable resources to be channeled elsewhere while helping to improve productivity by keeping everyone together on the same page. With Acano's coSpaces working along with it, users have virtually ongoing access to virtual conference rooms and can be on hand to connect at most any given time.

Easynet's MD for cloud, hosting and UC services, Philip Grannum, offered a bit of comment on this new release, saying “The critical success factor has to be usage, there's no point investing in a fantastic new platform if only the technical staff know how to use it. The Easynet and Acano partnership provides an inclusive, integrated and enjoyable customer experience, improving the user adoption and ultimately accelerating the customer's ROI.”

With estimates suggesting that the UC market itself could reach $61.9 billion by 2018, it's easy to see why there's such a demand for products that comprise said market. It's not surprising to see companies eager to get a slice of a rapidly-expanding pie, and the Easynet / Acano partnership looks to be a pretty pronounced pie server in its own right, so to speak. This looks like it could solve a lot of problems for companies, especially those with a more mobile workforce in a BYOD environment, though of course it'd be up to each individual company to make that determination.

Still, it looks to compile a lot of excellent communications tools under one umbrella, and that combination of ease of use and flexibility should prove to be a winner in the long run.
