Plantronics Comes to WebRTC Conference & Expo V with Wearables in Tow

Plantronics has always meant big things in the field of wearable technology, but Plantronics is scarcely some one-trick pony that can't keep ahead of the game. Indeed, it's got plans to make a major appearance at WebRTC Conference & Expo V event which kicks off today in San Jose Calif. That arrival will bring with it some new developments, perhaps the greatest of which will be an exhibition on how a wearable sensor line the company has developed could have an impact on the field of Web-based real time communications (WebRTC).

More specifically, Plantronics is set to demonstrate its Wearable Concept One prototype at the event, as led by its vice president of innovation and new ventures Cary Bran. With Wearable Concept One in place, Bran will be able to easily illustrate how WebRTC can readily work with another major growth concept in technology, the Internet of Things (IoT) to deliver an impressive experience in communications. The demonstration will show how the sensors can become part of what may be WebRTC's biggest advance—the data channel—to provide what's called ‘contextual awareness’ during that WebRTC call.

That's a pretty big step on its own, but it will be far from the only such step. Not only will Bran be delivering this exciting new talk, but two other Plantronics staffers will be on hand with presentations as well. Plantronics' senior manager for new ventures, Erik Perotti, will deliver a talk on Thursday, November 20 at 1:00 p.m. entitled What is the WebRTC Killer App? This talk will focus on the various apps coming out in the market that put WebRTC to work in one fashion or another. Meanwhile, that same day at 3:00 p.m., the director of UC systems architecture Tom Wesselman will be delivering a talk entitled WebRTC and VoLTE, examining how Apple's support for VoLTE, as well as the recent advancements in the field in general, will impact the field of WebRTC. Just to top it off, Plantronics will also be exhibiting its EncorePro headset geared toward customer service operations, as well as its BackBeat Pro noise-canceling headset line for the consumer market.

There's a lot going on in WebRTC these days, and WebRTC World Conference & Expo V is the best way to keep abreast of these many developments. It's almost dizzying to consider just how much has already arrived and how much is likely to come out in the future.
