Political neckties, Obama thongs and campaign style

Oct 29, 2012 (St. Louis Post-Dispatch - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- Political neckties are usually pretty kitsch, but Tommy Hilfiger stepped up put some swank in party paraphernalia. He spiced up the required blue and red uniform ties, Democratic and Republican (respectively).

The front of the slim cut ties depicts a nod to the respective party mascots, but the tail of the tie is a clever red and blue stripe. The hidden element won't be seen much, but the peek-a-boo effect adds some flare that makes the styling a little unexpected.

The ties are available for a limited time by the designer known for designing in the palette of the American flag. The ties are only available at Macy's stores, not online.

So which tie would Hilfiger wear Who knows, but according to Bloomberg he's donated a healthy sum to President Barack Obama's re-election campaign.

In other important news, CafePress, an online retailer of all types of kitsch, snarky, humorous, crude and printed did a very scientific poll based on underwear sales.

"What voters will do with their money is very telling about their intended election behavior," stated a CafePress media release.

So what's the verdict Well, across the political underwear spectrum, Pro-Obama thongs are leading the underwear choices with 80 percent of purchases.

Pro-Obama leads Pro-Romney across all categories. However, anti-Obama underwear sales account for nearly 100 percent of all anti-candidate undies.

So love him or hate him, people have no problems wearing them around their privates. I'm sooooo not going to say what I'm thinking ... and neither should you.

Meanwhile in other candidate news, Women's Wear Daily has been grading the candidates on style throughout the campaign and most recently gave President Obama a "B+" and Gov. Romney a "B". However, in their most recent vice presidential contender match-up Vice President Joe Biden rated a "C+" compared to GOP vice presidential nominee Paul Ryan's "B." ___ (c)2012 the St. Louis Post-Dispatch Visit the St. Louis Post-Dispatch at www.stltoday.com Distributed by MCT Information Services
