An Integration of a Fixed and Mobile Solution as Voipro and FirmTel Join Forces

Voipro has been developing hosted voice and other cloud communications solutions for small to medium enterprises (SMEs) since 2005. In 2009 all of its services were being provided through a network of distributors, value added resellers, system integrators and managed service providers. The company’s belief is that telecom is not about being cheapest but about providing the best solutions. This comes from the feeling that telephony is no longer a standalone service.

FirmTel describes itself as being for the business user as it supplies its service to IT departments. The IT department then maintains and supports it in-house. FirmTel’s mission is to enable a more efficient and effective use of IT departments, focusing on unlocking mobile services within IT management. As the world becomes more mobile, companies themselves have control over their mobile telecom infrastructure.

Voipro and FirmTel have joined in a strategic cooperation agreement to introduce a fixed and mobile solution. This offers SMEs an integrated communications solution making a mobile device fully part of the exchange.

According to a Gartner, mobile devices will play an increasingly important role in business. Gartner expects that by 2014 about 90 percent of all company’s business applications will be on personal mobile devices. This is where Voipro and FirmTel believe that a good consistent integration between fixed and mobile devices is crucial.

Cees Quirijns is the CEO and co-founder of FirmTel. He says that functionally that has always been seen on the fixed telecommunications side either doesn’t exist or is very rare on the mobile side. With Voipro they have changed all PBX functionality by adding mobile terminals. This makes fixed devices unessential, however, access to the company is still guaranteed.

The goal of this collaboration is to provide both flexibility and security within SMEs when accessing company data. Basically, users have the flexibility of using their mobile devices while at the same time having the security of fixed telephony.

Rob Kurver, CEO and co-founder of Voipro said, "Where Fixed Mobile Convergence (FMC) is only fixed and mobile telephony ties together, we are convinced that topped multiple integration paths must be supported. This can include links to Microsoft Lync and WebRTC. It is precisely this integration with IT applications where we work with our partners to make a difference for organizations."

"The collaboration with Firmtel means that your mobile device is a valuable part of your business, Voipro is central. Now you have your fixed phone in your pocket. The speed and ease with which the technical cooperation is implemented, let's you see the power of open standards, open APIs and how the cloud accelerates innovation,” said Henk Hesselink, Voipro co-founder, CTO and chief architect.
