Does Software Work in the Hands of Those That Work?

Software is great – when it works. Time and again, professionals at the forefront of innovation in their industries are faced with the challenges associated with frustrating software solutions that are designed to make their jobs easier, but fall very short. It’s not uncommon for marketing programs to tout the benefits associated with a solution when it’s never actually been tested by those who use it.

Aptean set out to change that reality. The company promotes its software as software that works when it’s in the hands of those doing the work. Aptean’s solutions are designed to be the interface between the machines on the shop floor and the systems that are tracking the work. When put into the hands of the manufacturing foreman, it produces the information needed to keep activities on track for maximum profitability.

To extend their value even further, the company has announced the launch of a free online cost savings calculator, designed to enable manufacturers to visualize the potential impact of eliminating premises-based performance measurement tools on the shop floor. When readily-available, currently reported metrics are added into the calculator, the savings associated with manufacturing when using a manufacturing execution system (MES) are easily identified.

“Factory provides manufacturers with opportunities to improve every area of their operations from reducing down time to making better, actionable decisions,” said Jennifer Sherman, senior vice president, product management, Aptean, in a press release. “We launched the Factory calculator to provide organizations with a high-level glimpse of how impactful these changes can be to their bottom lines – in a matter of weeks, not months.”

The MES solution from Aptean is designed to not only increase productivity, but also to drive continuous improvements. At the same time, manufacturers are provided with real-time visibility into the operations of their shop floors. As a result, manufacturers have the opportunity to take immediate and necessary steps to improve overall efficiency and coordinate with the workforce on decisions that can impact production overall.

This real-time insight into information and communication is a key focus for WebRTC. In fact, Aptean was on hand at the recent WebRTC Conference & Expo. To get the full scoop on their role in this industry, check out this video interview in full.
