There are lots of ways to communicate with people these days. We can make a good old fashioned phone call, use a FaceTime app on a smartphone or even a Skype call from our laptops, but the wave of the future in video communications is real time communications on the Web, also known as WebRTC.
This will allow you to directly contact another person right from your browser. It is positioned to be the next game changing technology, and one company, Priologic, is poised to help developers make these communications as easy as A-B-C (or maybe R-T-C!)
Priologic’s easyRTC is a set of Open Source WebRTC bundle, complete with a Server Kit, an API and application source codes for HTLM5 and Javascript. The bundle is scheduled for launch in mid-December and will make life easier for developers.
“WebRTC from scratch is hard. It takes a lot of trial and error setting up a Linux server and writing gnarly client code to get traction,” said Doug Pelton, founder and CEO of Priologic, in a statement. “easyRTC is intended to give developers quick, easy access to WebRTC. Instead of spending Christmas to New Years setting up WebRTC, spend an hour setting up easyRTC and then explore WebRTC by hacking our working application code.”
For those that are interested in the technology, an entire event devoted to WebRTC is close at hand. The WebRTC Conference and Expo will be held from November 27-29 in South San Francisco. It will feature speakers, exhibitors and informational sessions to explain the future of WebRTC technology. For more information on the event, click here.
