Videxio Integrates WebRTC To Bring Business Quality Video To The Masses

Videxio announced they've integrated browser-based WebRTC into their global quality of service video network, allowing users to open business quality audio and video chats in their browsers without having to install a client. That reduced complexity in video conferencing, perceived or real, could mark a turning point from on-premise video conferencing techniques to more cost-efficient cloud-based business quality video streaming.

“Videxio’s mission is to accelerate the adoption and use of video conferencing by simplifying and enhancing the user experience,” Tom-Erik Lia, CEO of Videxio said in a prepared statement. “We are now further enhancing the ability of our user community to collaborate across video platforms and between the devices and solutions that they want to use.” The development could be a boon to businesses users frequenting video conferences today and in the future. In fact, a recent report by Disruptive Analysis suggests one billion users — along with three billion capable devices — could run browser-based video communications by the end of 2016.

“Videxio’s WebRTC application is going to be a game changer in how it enables the masses to participate in business quality video collaboration,” Michael Stanton-Jones, Product Manager for Converged Communications at Vodafone said in a statement. “This will revolutionize the reach of video conferencing by reducing the perceived complexity of joining a video collaboration event. Expanding collaboration sessions both in and outside the enterprise via WebRTC links will enable companies to maintain a tight relationship with staff, customers and partners.”

According to Videxio's announcement, their solution enables collaboration between H323/SIP video conferencing and other video communications, like Microsoft Lync and other browser-based products.Videxio will make its Chrome or Firefox browser-based client available for Virtual Meeting Room services upon request, with a commercial launch in the first quarter of 2014.
