When you think of collaboration, do you automatically think video? For a number of professionals buying into the concept of real-time communications, every other channel falls short. It is this type of thinking that is driving the demand for solutions supported through WebRTC.
Requestec is one company focused on enabling collaboration through video and supporting WebRTC. The company recently entered into a partnership with Akbank, a top retail bank with more than eight million account holders. Akbank sought to offer its Mobile Wallet Services to account holders and wanted to embrace the opportunities presented with real-time communications.
By using Requestec’s Zenon Gateway, the bank is able to offer the first Internet banking HD video calling service. This will allow Akbank customers to launch video calls with just one click from within its online banking service and connected to a video-enabled agent. One of the benefits of using Requestec technology is that it works in any Android or iOS app, any Web browser and users don’t have to install a plug-in or software to make it work.
To take advantage of this technology, Akbank customers simply need a microphone and Web cam and they can quickly launch a secure, face-to-face video call. The bank believes that by doing so, they will build a new level of trust and transparency that stands out in the financial industry. It is also one that in the WebRTC world, can change the way consumers expect to interact with companies.
The Zenon Gateway is designed to work in tandem with the Genesys Contact Center suite and enables agents within the bank’s customer service center to leverage the Zenon Client or Counterpath’s Bria take customer calls. The call is made through Flash UDP or WebRTC, depending upon the web browser selected by the consumer.
"It's been a fantastically enjoyable project," Requestec’s Ben Weekes said in a statement, "and I thoroughly enjoyed working with the Akbank team in bringing such a groundbreaking service to life."
If you’re more interested in seeking this functionality than just reading about it, Requestec was on hand at this year’s WebRTC event to demonstrate its latest offering. To see it, check out this video from the event.
