Grandstream Introduces WebRTC-Enabled Conferencing Platform

Oftentimes, news on the WebRTC front is directly related to conferencing, as it enables people to interact in real time at the click of a button. In the world of conferencing, that convenience is revolutionary for businesses. So it should come as no surprise that more and more companies are jumping on the WebRTC bandwagon, the latest of which is Grandstream.

Recently, Grandstream announced that it is launching an innovative Web conferencing platform with a free meeting plan. The solution, called IPVideoTalk Web Meetings, leverages WebRTC technology to offer high quality Web meetings with HD video and audio using any PC, Mac, iOS or Android devices.

It appears as though Grandstream is starting off small with the offering. The first immediately available IPVideoTalk Web Meetings plan is a free Personal plan that supports up to three participants and allows any user to meet with anyone, anywhere at any time for free. However, starting in October 2017, users will be able to sign up for additional IPVideoTalk Web Meeting plans that support much larger audiences—anywhere from 25 to 50 to 100 participants. Free trials for these larger options are set to begin in June.

WebRTC is one of the key features behind this conferencing solution, allowing for one-click meetings using a Web browser with no client downloads. However, according to the announcement, there are plenty of other real time features as well, including:

  • 720p HD video and HD audio
  • Unlimited 1-to-1 meetings
  • Screen sharing with remote parties for high quality presentation, distant learning, and collaborative document annotations at 1080p video resolution
  • Advanced meeting chat feature to allow private or group based real-time text communications with other meeting attendees or hosts
  • Comprehensive meeting control features such as mute, video block, raise hands, panelists, etc.
  • Customization capability for personalizing the message/content in the meeting registration page, calendar scheduling, invitation, reminding, thank-you follow up, post-meeting survey, etc.
  • Meeting reports with downloadable attendee list
  • Support for most of the major Web browsers (Chrome, Firefox, Opera, and soon Microsoft Edge) with zero client/plug-in download.

David Li, CEO of Grandstream, is excited about the launch and looks forward to what WebRTC holds for the future, saying, “The launch of our IPVideoTalk Web Meeting platform represents the next step in our mission to make powerful, state-of-the-art communications technology easy and attainable for business of all sizes…IPVideoTalk Web Meetings will empower users to hold high quality and efficient meetings with just 1-click from any computers or mobile devices while savings thousands on travel expenses. We are excited for users throughout the world to experience the power, convenience, and cost-savings of IPVideoTalk Web Meetings.”
