WebRTC Growing with Help from Vidtel

While the WebRTC standard may be young and still developing, we can already see and predict what it can bring to the table. As it can run real-time communications in browsers without additional plug-ins, communication is a simple task with it, making conferencing and P2P sharing a task that can be accomplished quickly through browsers.

One company that has been getting in on the WebRTC game is Vidtel, which recently made a few announcements in the WebRTC space. Vidtel teamed up with video conferencing manufacturer VTEL, allowing it to operate its services with service providers and equipment vendors at the top of the food chain. VTEL’s products will also work as required by Vidtel’s MeetMe service.

With this combination, VTEL and Vidtel can provide multiparty conferencing across endpoints, platforms and devices. This should also help reduce the need for exchange services and expensive bridges, while providing flexible video conferencing with other organizations.

Furthermore, Vidtel has enabled its gateway service to connect WebRCT-enabled browsers to enterprise videoconferences. This is a big step for Vidtel and WebRTC, making Vidtel the first company to enable communication between WebRTC browsers and third-party video conferencing infrastructures, allowing for more accessible, more unified conferences.

Rather than browser-to-browser only, users can enter video conferencing sessions from SIP or H.323 enterprise systems, as well as standard Web or client-based systems or WebRTC endpoints. Basically, WebRTC is now a viable option for video solutions across the board, thanks to Vidtel.

WebRTC is growing nicely, and its potential is great. Open, easy communications over the web can provide so much in the way of convenience, accessibility, and productivity, saving time, money, and plenty of hassle. Thanks to Vidtel, we’re now closer than ever to WebRTC’s heyday.
