Bell Aliant and GENBAND Win Global Telecoms Business Innovation Award Thanks to WebRTC

Bell Aliant and GENBAND were jointly awarded the Global Telecoms Business Innovation Award in the Business Service Innovation category at an event earlier in June. The award recognizes the two companies' "outstanding innovation and collaboration" in business unified communications.

"Being recognized as a global leader alongside GENBAND is very encouraging as we continue our commitment to provide our customers with the most efficient, advanced and flexible options available in the market," said Kelly Duplisea, vice president of Business Market at Bell Aliant.

This award win can largely be attributed to Bell Aliant and GENBAND's forward-looking efforts through the deployment of GENBAND’s recently launched SPiDR WebRTC Gateway. By utilizing this solution, Bell Aliant is enabling its customers to better compete in an ever-evolving market.

GENBAND's SPiDR is claimed to be the industry's most comprehensive WebRTC gateway currently available. Put simply, the solution allows service providers to extend the reach and breadth of their offerings by enabling rich multimedia—such as voice, video, IM and presence—by way of any Web browser. Best of all, SPiDR is somewhat future proof as it is capable of seamlessly interworking future telecom network elements with the Web.

The gateway is also able to deliver independent media and signaling interworking capabilities, while still bridging over-the-top (OTT), legacy signaling and media.

With SPiDR, GENBAND has embraced the possibilities of WebRTC, while enabling network operators a way to monetize what has been viewed as a disruptive technology for traditional telecommunications companies. The company discussed this in a recent Webrtcworld webinar.

Bell Aliant's unified communications service provides businesses with enhanced collaboration and connectivity through the power of IP. As such, business customers are able to seamlessly connect their phone, PC and mobile devices, enabling access to their office phone line and features from practically anywhere.

With GENBAND's WebRTC gateway, this service takes a step further toward IP communications.

GENBAND will play a major role at WebRTC World Conference and Expo as a Gold sponsor in June.  In addition to offering a look at its commercially available WebRTC solutions, including the GENBAND SPiDR WebRTC gateway the company will also be featured in a session and panel led by GENBAND personnel: Workun will lead a session on "WebRTC Disruptions" while GENBAND's vice president of Solutions Marketing, Sanjay Bhatia, will take part in the "Where's the Money?" panel.
