Ingate Systems Says SIP Trunking Still Hot, but WebRTC Warming Up

Ingate Systems, a developer of firewall technology for SIP and WebRTC communication, has announced that SIP trunking is still a hot market for the Stockholm-based company.

“SIP trunking is still a hot market for Ingate, especially in North America,” said Steven Johnson, President, Ingate Systems. “This year we’ve seen record growth in sales of the Ingate SIParator E-SBC for SIP trunking applications.”

Ingate has seen increasingly large deployments up its SIPerator 51, 56 and 66. These systems can handle up to 1,000 concurrent sessions. The customers for these large installations include cable companies, cable companies and other major carriers.

“Existing customers are realizing the benefits of SIP trunking and have come back to us with more orders, and for larger E-SBCs,” Johnson said.

In addition to SIP trunking, Ingate is working on supporting the emerging WebRTC standard. Its Q-TURN technology brings features like NAT traversal, end-to-end connectivity and priority over other data traffic to WebRTC.

The Ingate WebRTC SIP & PBX Companion adds WebRTC functionality to any existing VoIP PBX system. Businesses can add a button to their websites to allow customers to get in touch immediately with them through their browsers.

WebRTC allows users to have real-time audio and video conferencing without the need to install any additional software, such as with Microsoft’s popular Skype service. Initially developed by Google, both the latest versions of both Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox support it.

A number of businesses have already seen the potential of the new standard as a way to provide frictionless customer service. With the ability to interoperate with existing systems, WebRTC is poised to grow even more.

Ingate will be exhibiting at the TMC’s WebRTC Conference and Expo in Santa Clara, Calif. from November 19-21. The emergence of major conferences like this one is a testament to how fast the technology is growing.
