Mavenir's WebRTC Gateway Helps Improve T-Hrvatski Telekom's Network

Mavenir Systems recently helped Croatia’s largest telecommunications company, T-Hrvatski Telekom (T-HT), embrace WebRTC by providing the operator with its IMS WebRTC Gateway. This gateway helps T-HT further its TeraStream project, which aims to combine cloud and network technology with state-of-the-art control mechanisms to create a drastically simplified network architecture with fewer network and network-control levels.

The Mavenir WebRTC Gateway has been delivered into the T-HT data center as a virtualized solution. This allows for seamless interworking with T-HT’s multivendor IMS network from mobile or wired devices. More importantly, the gateway acts as a bridge between IMS-based services — including voice, video and messaging — and WebRTC-enabled browser applications. In other words, it brings the power, flexibility and ubiquity of WebRTC services to the IMS subscriber.

“Mavenir’s WebRTC technology is a paradigm shift that allows operators to extend their IMS core network service to the web in a simple and fast manner,” said Pardeep Kohli, president and chief executive officer of Mavenir Systems, in a statement. “And our web-based client enables us to accelerate operators’ service launch, while creating innovative user experiences for their subscribers.”

In order to ensure that Mavenir’s WebRTC Gateway would mesh successfully with T-HT’s network, Mavenir leveraged both its client expertise and user experience center in Zagreb, Croatia. Specifically, the company used the knowledge and experience gained from these sources to engage with T-HT, identifying and prototyping innovative user experiences. Mavenir has also provided a Web-based client strategy that makes deployment much simpler, while providing easy access to central management and control features.

“With Mavenir’s WebRTC capabilities and support, we are exploring exciting new use cases through the integration of existing services in a web environment which will enrich those services or allow innovation of new services,” said Nenad Silbar, head of core network planning department at T-HT and TeraStream pilot lead.
