Mavenir Systems' CTO Terry McCabe Takes Keynote at WebRTC Conference and Expo

With the WebRTC Conference and Expo just a few weeks away, set to run June 25 - 27 at Atlanta, Ga.'s Cobb Galleria, there have already been some major announcements in terms of speakers and exhibitors ready to take the stage and talk about Web-based real time communications (WebRTC). But one of the biggest slots, a keynote, was open until just recently, when TMC Systemwide Media and PKE Consulting announced that Mavenir Systems CTO Terry McCabe will deliver a luncheon keynote address.

McCabe's lunch keynote--slated for Thursday, June 27, at 12:30 p.m.--is likely to cover much of what Mavenir will be showing at the event, especially in regard to voice and video applications driven by Mavenir's WebRTC Gateway. But McCabe also had some remarks that suggested likely direction for the talk, saying: "Interworking with IMS will be crucial to the ultimate success of WebRTC. IMS enables the service delivery of core network services to WebRTC clients, and delivers a multi-device strategy. I'm looking forward to sharing these perspectives with the audience."

McCabe is well-placed to be a speaker at the WebRTC Conference and Expo, having already been CTO at Airwide before its acquisition by Mavenir. He was also CTO and vice president of engineering, among holding other positions, at Sema Group. McCabe was also part of the WAP Forum, TIA and the SMS Forum. But because of his position at Mavenir Systems, he's also quite qualified thanks to what the company is doing in the field.

Mavenir Systems not only has quite a bit going on in communications in general, with products for mobile video, Voice over Wi-Fi systems, and Voice over LTE (VoLTE) systems, but Mavenir also has a lot going on in the field of WebRTC itself. The WebRTC Gateway mentioned earlier is perhaps the biggest of Mavenir's entries into the field, which uses Mavenir's platform to build a highly secure, yet user friendly, connection system. With the WebRTC Gateway, users can bring Rich Communications Services (RCS) to any Web device, as well as put operator network services into Web applications. It can also be used to put some extra punch into current network assets, and works well with a current IMS network thanks to the inclusion of policy, charging and Lawful Intercept interfaces.

Basically, that makes WebRTC Conference and Expo's plan to go with Terry McCabe for a keynote a sound decision. Not only is McCabe himself an expert going back through several companies, but McCabe is also currently at work with Mavenir Systems' wide array of WebRTC and communications projects. That's a huge body of work to draw on, and means that an impressive talk is likely to be had with lunch that Thursday at the WebRTC Conference and Expo.
