GetOnSIP.com Brings Together SIP and WebRTC for OnSIP

The Reese's peanut butter cup, for many, is a popular treat that's even a favorite, and this treat that combines, as the marketing language suggests, two great tastes that taste great together, has shown its value over the sheer number of years it’s been available. But when things combine, a new and exciting whole can often be found in place, and that's just what OnSIP is looking to bring out with the relaunch of its GetOnSIP.com project.

OnSIP, a hosted private branch exchange (PBX) provider, is looking to take session initiation protocol (SIP) and combine it with Web-based real-time communications (WebRTC) to produce a new and exciting way to keep in touch using the Web as a medium. GetOnSIP.com already boasts more than 40,000 users to its credit, at last report, and the new relaunch is likely to bring in even more as users come in looking for new communications solutions.

GetOnSIP.com offers users an exciting package in communications, allowing users to access a complete video phone system directly from a Web browser with no extra downloads required. Of course, to use it will require a little extra hardware like a webcam, but with the hardware in place, users will be able to get in on the action just from the website in question. It's not just about making calls, either, as GetOnSIP.com also boasts easy ways to receive calls as well thanks to the use of SIP addresses, as well as what are called “Call Now” links that allow GetOnSIP.com users to share with other users—like website visitors—that allow for what amounts to a click-to-call system, providing instant, easy access to high-quality voice and even video chatting.

The “Call Now” links are perhaps the biggest part of the GetOnSIP.com package, representing a new and impressive way to present both cost savings and improved productivity all from the same measure. Better yet, it also allows a much simpler way for customers—both current and potential alike—to easily contact a business right at the point in which that customer is most interested in making purchases. In support of all this, OnSIP will be making an appearance with the VoIP Users Conference on Nov. 8 at 12 p.m. Eastern to discuss the relaunch and what it means for the immediate future.

Striking while the iron is hot is easily one of the biggest aphorisms used in sales, and the ability to access the customer at the point of greatest interest is the point at which the iron, so to speak, is at its hottest. Better yet, the “Call Now” links allow the customer to initiate the contact, and when the customer is the one doing the contacting, that's a commonly acknowledged sign of interest on the customer's part. A customer doing the contacting is, in turn, much more likely to make a purchase than a customer who has been contacted, and that means greater chances for making sales.

It's not just about the sales, of course, as things like GetOnSIP.com represent significant opportunities for users, as well as for developers, who now have something big and impressive to point to in terms of just what an SIP/WebRTC approach can do for business. With more users turning to WebRTC on some level, it's proof that this new technology is gaining ground, and mature technologies are giving the newcomer a boost in the wider field.
