Smartpresence, Pexip Team Up to Deliver Video Conferencing in New Zealand

Video conferencing is on the rise all over, and even recent reports from Blue Jeans Network show just what kind of gains video conferencing is experiencing across most of the business community, where face-to-face contact is still valuable. But face-to-face contact can be difficult to generate, especially with actual, in-person contact; travel is expensive, sometimes even dangerous thanks to winter storms and the like. Leaving the country to do so is even more pronounced in terms of expense and difficulty. But in New Zealand, video conferencing is taking on a whole new life as Pexip and Smartpresence teamed up to offer up new solutions in video conferencing.

The combination of the two firms makes for some interesting new potential developments when it comes to video conferencing. Smartpresence offers a variety of hardware systems dealing in both video conferencing and its close cousin telepresence. Smartpresence, at last report, has actually not only designed but also installed most of the entire country's managed service video systems, which is really quite the achievement. That's a good start, but throw in Pexip and the entire concept gets turned on its heel as Pexip steps in.

Pexip, you see, offers a new kind of approach to videoconferencing, one that doesn't strictly depend on a certain kind of device. Pexip's videoconferencing system offers a scalable, software-based platform that allows for quick, easy deployment and the ability to ratchet the level of provision up or down as need be. It offers flexible licensing and cloud-based service capability, making it a very versatile system.

So couple a hardware provider that can offer a variety of solutions depending on needs on the ground with a more software-oriented firm that can provide a solution based on a variety of different hardware platforms, and the value proposition here becomes pretty clear. Since Smartpresence can offer up several different hardware solutions, without the need to get all focused on large-scale systems—video conferencing systems of late can be as simple as a PC and a webcam under certain conditions—it has a good variety to offer. But backed up with Pexip, it can offer these various solutions while allowing for one main software offering to drive all these different solutions. Plus, with Pexip, more offerings can be brought into play, like virtual meeting rooms and multi-party voice and video bridges.

In general, more firms are turning to videoconferencing as a way to supplement business travel, meaning that a solution like that offered by the combined forces of Pexip and Smartpresence should go well; after all, said combination is walking into a market that's eager to save money and maintain contact on a more intimate level than a phone call can provide. It's a good combination of facets, and it's clear that Pexip and Smartpresence can work together rather readily. Only time will tell if the New Zealand market is as appreciative, but it's a pretty safe bet that two complementary forces like these will be able to work smoothly together and offer a great new set of options to its market.
