TokBox's Ian Small to Keynote at WebRTC Conference and Expo

Last week, the technology world saw something pretty amazing: a demonstration of a native video chat between an Android Nexus tablet and a Macbook Air, with no need for the participants to download any application or extra tool. It was made possible thanks to a technology known as WebRTC, a standard that is a free, open project that allows high-quality, real-time communication applications to be developed in the browser via simple Java APIs and HTML5.

The applications for WebRTC go way beyond bringing Android users and Mac users together, and the implications for the call center and customer service areas are astonishing. WebRTC will allow company representatives and customers to communicate over the Internet on a peer-to-peer basis, allowing them to collaborate using click-to-text or click-to-call buttons, video conferencing and other Web-based communications technology – with no need to first download an application or a plug-in.

Participants of the upcoming WebRTC Conference and Expo, which will take place June 25 to 27, 2013, at Cobb Galleria in Atlanta, Georgia, will see first-hand some of the amazing business and consumer applications of WebRTC. TMC, together with Systemwide Media and PKE Consulting, have announced that TokBox CEO Ian Small will deliver a keynote address at the WebRTC Conference and Expo. TokBox is the provider of the OpenTok API, the leading video chat platform. Attendees of the keynote will get a front row seat to watch and help partners create immersive and engaging face-to-face experiences with video.

We are pleased to welcome Ian Small and TokBox to the WebRTC Conference and Expo," said Rich Tehrani, CEO of TMC, in a statement announcing the keynote. "Led by Ian, TokBox provides one of the leading video chat platforms in the industry and has seen solid success in this young, dynamic market. Attendees will gain great insight into this market based on the strides Ian and his team have already taken."

Registration for the WebRTC Conference & Expo is now open. Passes include admission to all conference and keynote sessions, food and drink during all meals and breaks, and access to Conference Networking events. For media registration, contact Ashley Baster. Companies interested in exhibiting or sponsoring should contact Dave Rodriguez at [email protected] or 203-852-6800 x146.
