IOCOM Adds WebRTC to Video Conferencing and Collaboration Solutions

IOCOM, a provider of enterprise video conferencing and collaboration software and solutions, recently added WebRTC to its line of Windows, Mac, Linux, Android and iOS video collaboration clients. IOCOM’s Visimeet video conferencing software scales from desktop users to HD telepresence conference rooms with the same software and interface. It provides instant visual communications between multiple users over the Internet, and now offers WebRTC capabilities to expand Visimeet’s functionality to users.

One of the features IOCOM stresses is maintaining a consistent interface and functionality across multiple platforms. This is possible through Visimeet’s use of a server-controller interface, which also enables simple integration into third-party systems.

"The inherent flexibility that has been designed into the software provides a cross platform solution that is consistent across Windows, Macintosh and Linux systems for both our installed clients as well as our WebRTC users," stated Jon Swanson, CTO for IOCOM, in a statement. "Being able to hold multipoint, multi video sessions is critical to having truly productive meetings."

As many industries and technologies look to adopt to mobility and BYOD-type of environments, IOCOM says WebRTC will be a key growth driver of everyday video collaboration. The promise of WebRTC is being able to communicate in real-time over a browser without the need to download or install any software. Visimeet supports H.264, H.263 and H.261 video codecs, as well as various HD and SD formats.

IOCOM delivers solutions for a range of industries, including enterprise, government, telemedicine, energy, education and telepresence. Visimeet can also be incorporated into a product and become a part of a company’s own solution, such as through a white-label product or complete integration.

"The Visimeet architecture is recognized by leading industry analysts as the most flexible and configurable solution that delivers high-performance video and we've been seeing demand by companies looking to take advantage of these capabilities,” Tim Hackett, CEO of IOCOM, said in a statement. “This new offering can meet just about any business or technical requirement and we can now make this available to those who can use it. We want IOCOM to be the underlying solution that powers the growing number of applications that need high quality, interactive video capabilities."

WebRTC will continue to be a hot topic throughout 2014, and as it grows, developers, companies and product managers will have a lot to learn and many questions to ask. The Enterprise WebRTC Pavilion at ITEXPO Miami will cover different business models, standards, tools and educational topics to further the development of WebRTC, featuring a number of industry executives and analysts. The event is happening next week, Jan. 30-31 in Miami, Fla. Hope to see you there!
