TokBox Runs Demonstrations of OpenTok Voice & Video Platform

The growth of Web-based real-time communications (WebRTC) is in turn driving some major new opportunities in the field, both for those who would put such tools to work in current operations and for those who would offer up the tools for use in the first place. TokBox is fast becoming one of the biggest names in WebRTC, and showed just why that's the case by taking its OpenTok to an industry event to run some demonstrations showing off just what this platform is capable of.

TokBox's OpenTok system allows for quick and easy addition of WebRTC services into currently operating websites—be said sites mobile or regular online—but also into apps and services, making it easy to quickly communicate with users right from a platform with which the users are already familiar. OpenTok offers a wide degree of customization capabilities and scalability options as well, making it perfectly useful for several different degrees of operation ranging from one-on-one chats and going all the way up to large-scale broadcasting efforts.

Several major names have already brought in OpenTok as a means to drive communications at one end of the business or other, with previous OpenTok clients including Ford, Diet Coke, and Major League Baseball. Since OpenTok can work with little regard toward the particular endpoint being used—even if said endpoint happens to be inside a corporate firewall at the time—it makes for maximum versatility and ultimately value in the field.

TokBox's CEO, Scott Lomond, offered some commentary ahead of the demonstrations, saying “TokBox is committed to providing the most advanced, enterprise grade platform for real time voice and video applications. Every organization is focused on driving better communications and collaboration, and finding innovative new ways to serve their customers. We are providing the building blocks for the development of these powerful tools and applications. We understand the unique challenges that enterprises face when adopting new technologies, and the OpenTok platform is tailored to respond to those needs.”

TokBox's OpenTok represents a terrific offering for those who are looking to see the revenue-driving powers that WebRTC can represent. Being able to add a WebRTC capability to, say, a website where companies routinely buy and sell products allows customers—or potential customers—to expediently ask questions about said products, thus fueling potential buying decisions and satisfaction following the purchase. When customers are satisfied after the purchase, it's comparatively axiomatic that those customers are more likely to return to said platform later on to make further purchases. But it's not just about letting customers communicate with the business; it's also a powerful tool in terms of communicating within the business itself. Whether between two cubicle-dwellers at opposite sides of the building, or between someone in the office and someone else working remotely, or even between two or more people at completely different businesses, WebRTC can bridge the gap and make communication that much easier, which in turn makes the end result often better for the improved communication.

TokBox's OpenTok, in many ways, speaks for itself. Whether in terms of the number of successful users, in the demonstrations offered, or just in general descriptions of its capability, the power that this platform can bring under the right conditions is well worth considering for most any business.
